"Cockfighter," is for sale on Ebay. This is an original oil painting, 100% of the proceeds will go directly to organizations working on Typhoon Haiyan relief efforts in the Philippines.
Some background on this painting: I took the reference photo during my first trip to Manila in 2005. It has been in my private collection since, but in light of the devastating typhoon that hit the Philippines on Nov. 8th, I have decided to auction it off to raise funds for the victims.

Flotsam by Kim Cogan Hespe Gallery, September 2013
San Francisco-based artist Kim Cogan drifts into an exploration of coastal landscapes in his new solo show, Flotsam.
By observing the environments and structures seen around the coast, Cogan brings together the sensibilities and techniques he applied to create his atmospheric city scenes and kinetic wave paintings and seascapes.
Cogan’s new work suggests a sensory experience of the landscape, mimicking the passing of time. His fluid brushstrokes render an atmosphere steeped in history, evoking a sense of weathering and abandonment as a testament to the consequences of both natural and man made elements.
Through his use of light, color and shadow, Cogan chooses to exaggerate a mood or overstate emotional content. “The panting is built up in several layers—some translucent, some opaque—in order to create depth,” says Cogan. “I often add or subtract details to focus the viewer on a specific area of the composition.”
The result is a complete visual experience, skillfully rendered, yet impressionistic—with meaning carried along in the eyes of the viewer.

Maxwell Alexander Gallery is introducing a new breed of Art Gallery to the Los Angeles area. The gallery is based on curated shows rather than representing a long roster of artists.
This is a small wave painting I started a few days before the opening of "Sea Change". Unfortunately, the piece didn't make it into the show because of the short amount of time, regardless whenever possible I like to finish up what I start and this one I thoroughly enjoyed working on to the finish.
I am honored to be included in the American Artist 75 Greatest Artists Of All Time. I am humbled to be featured amongst talented artists David Kassan, Jeremy Lipking, Casey Braugh, Brad Kunkle, Sean Cheetham, Jeremy Mann, Burton Silverman, Antonio Lopez, Richard Schmid, Jacob Collins, Lucian Freud, Rembrandt van Rijn, Caravaggio, Vincent Van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, Edward Hopper, Winslow Homer, Andrew Wyeth, Winslow Homer, Georgia O'Keefe, Frida Kahlo, and many more.
